Gökhan Deniz

Focusing on the concepts of identity and power with universal themes such as evil, crime, innocence, and witnessing based on what people do to themselves and the "other", the artist produces landscape series by shifting the movement on the plane from the figure to the void in his recent paintings. Trying to simplify his invitation to "silence" in figure painting by leaving representation, Deniz graduated from Marmara University Atatürk Education Faculty Fine Arts Education Department in 1997. After the 1999 Marmara earthquake, the artist, who took part in active civil society activities related to groups of children living under difficult conditions, participated in projects aimed at preventing human rights violations in closed institutions, and conducted workshops in prisons and mental health hospitals. The artist lives and produces in Istanbul.
