Mehmet Çimen
In 2008, Mehmet Çimen graduated from the Department of Photography at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Akdeniz University in Antalya. He completed his master's degree in the Department of Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Artuklu University in Mardin with a thesis titled "Traces of Personal and Collective Memory in Contemporary Art."
He conducts his productions through the concepts of personal memory, social memory, and memory as an archive, utilizing new media applications. He is a founding member of the "Mardin Photography Association" and the "Merkezkaç Art Collective." Between 2015 and 2017, he taught courses in the Photography Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Artuklu University. He served as the photo editor for the Culture, Arts, and Tourism Magazine established under the Mardin Governorship. Çimen is a member of the "Mardin Cinema Association" and is also part of the team for the Mardin Biennial organized by the association. Specializing in location and city promotion films, photography, and moving images, he worked with "Sinek Production" and "Çivi" design agencies. In 2023, he became a founding member of the EXİT collective.
Çimen is versatile in his artistic production, with the foundation of his art practice being photography. He conducts his productions through the concepts of personal memory, social memory, and archive.
