Neriman Polat

In her works focusing on socio-political issues, the artist critically processes the phenomena such as gender, public space, urban transformation, and forms of power with a feminist perspective. She creates works that contain interventions on materials. The artist, who completed her education at Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Faculty Painting Department, has participated in numerous national and international contemporary art exhibitions since 1996. Polat, who took part in the 6th International Istanbul Biennial in 1999, the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003 in the Turkish Pavilion, and she was in the Hafriyat group between 2000-2009, participated in many exhibitions with the group. In 2019, Polat held his retrospective exhibition titled "Breaking the Seal, 1996 / 2019 A Selection" at Depo with curators Derya Yücel and Mahmut Koyuncu. Her works exhibited in many countries such as Bulgaria, Georgia, Germany, Netherlands, England, Greece, Slovenia, Italy, Brazil, Belgium, Spain. The artist lives and works in Istanbul.
