PORTFOLIO SELECTION COMPETITION 2024 (PSC - 2024)

Open Call and Competition for Portfolio Selection for Students of Fine Arts Faculties in Adana, Mersin, and Hatay

Our goal is to motivate students who are interested in art and want to sustain their lives through art, to help them look to the future with hope, to contribute to the recognition and appreciation of artists in the region, to provide guidance through mentorship, to show that art environments exist in our region, and to instill the consciousness that one can exist as an artist here.

This event, coordinated by KUN Art Space and D5Sanat Ortamı, with the support of Adana Metropolitan Municipality, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, Mersin Yenişehir Municipality, Kültürhane, and Istanbul Karşı Sanat, aims to motivate, support, and encourage university students in Adana, Hatay, and Mersin on their path to becoming artists. Our long-term goal is for this project to become a classic example and continue for years.

Our project invites third and fourth-year undergraduate students, as well as master's and doctoral/art proficiency students from Fine Arts Faculties in these three provinces. Students are required to submit their portfolios, containing at least ten (10) works, to the email address portfolyoseckiyarismasi@gmail.com by June 2, 2024. The portfolios will be evaluated by a jury of academics, artists, and art managers by June 10, 2024.

Separate “Achievement Awards” of 10,000 TL each will be given to one participant in each of the following categories from Adana, Mersin, and Hatay: undergraduate, master's, and doctoral/art proficiency.

In addition to the nine projects receiving achievement awards, 27 portfolios deemed worthy of exhibition (36 portfolios in total) will be awarded a "Production Support" of 5,000 TL each. There will be no additional contribution for the exhibition of the works. Artists are expected to present their works under these conditions. The coordinators will decide on the redistribution of awards in units where there are no applications, and the curator will be authorized regarding exhibition and curation.

The first exhibition will open at 18:00 on June 29, 2024, at the Adana Kitchen Museum. The second exhibition will be held in October at the Mersin Yenişehir Municipality Ahmet Yeşil Art Gallery. The third and final exhibition will open in December in Istanbul.
